🕍The Church of Silence: How Religion Became the Gatekeeper of Oppression

“Why are the churches so quiet when the streets are burning?”
“Where are the prophets when the people are bleeding?”
“How did a spiritual body become a political fence?”
In a time when Kenya cries out for truth, justice, and dignity, the loudest silence is coming from the pulpits.
Not because God is silent, but because many of His so-called messengers have gone mute.
This blog uncovers how religion, especially in its modern form, has become the greatest weapon of spiritual suppression and why the church, instead of being the voice of the people, has become the gatekeeper of their submission.

Religion Was Always This Way
Before we blame God, let’s clarify something.
God did not create religion.
- The Source is Spirit, not doctrine.
- The original Jesus/Yahushua was not a Christian. He never built a church. He broke temples.
- In ancient Africa, spirituality was a way of life, not a weekly ritual.
But through Rome, the spiritual became political.
What began as liberation turned into legislation.
🏛️ The Roman Blueprint From Cross to Crown
The turning point came when Rome realized that killing spiritual leaders only made them stronger.
So they changed tactics: they institutionalized the message.
Enter: Constantine. The Council of Nicaea. The Holy Roman Empire.
- The church became a state organ.
- The Bible became a curated, edited, and weaponized document.
- Fear replaced freedom.
- Obedience to men replaced connection to Spirit.
From that point forward, religion became the gate, not to heaven, but to empire control.
⛪ The Modern Church Is a Corporate Franchise
Today, most churches are no longer places of healing, but centers of conditioning.
Let’s call it what it is:
- Politicians sit on the front row, not widows and orphans.
- Church leaders bless corruption in exchange for land, cars, and positions.
- The gospel has been reduced to prosperity, shame, or passivity.
- The sheep are taught to be quiet, obedient, and fearful, “wait for heaven,” they say, “your reward is not here.”
Meanwhile, the oppressors are building heaven for themselves right here on your land.
📉 The Church’s Role in Kenya’s Crisis
Where is the voice of the church now?
- Did they stand up against the Finance Bill?
- Did they march when the youth were killed in the streets?
- Do they speak truth to power or do they host it on their altars?
Religious leaders in Kenya have become like the priests in the time of Jesus protectors of the system, not the people.
The silence of the church in the face of injustice is not just cowardice, it is complicity.
🧬The Psychological Damage of Passive Religion
Passive religion teaches:
- Don’t question your leaders.
- Just pray, don’t act.
- God will fix it all (without you doing anything).
- You are nothing. You are dirty. You are unworthy.
This is not humility. This is mental slavery in holy clothing.
When you teach a population that:
- They are inherently guilty,
- Their suffering is divine will,
- And they must obey without understanding…
You don’t need soldiers or bullets.
You have their minds in chains.
⚔️ True Spirituality Liberates
True spirituality:
- Empowers the mind.
- Strengthens the soul.
- Brings justice and love into action.
Yeshua flipped tables.
Moses defied Pharaoh.
The prophets never bowed to kings.
They spoke truth, even if it cost them their lives.
Real spiritual leaders are revolutionaries, not chaplains to empire.
🛎️ The Church Must Decide Its Role
Dear Kenyan Church:
You cannot serve both truth and tyranny.
You must choose.
Will you continue as the gatekeepers of colonial obedience?
Or will you become the awakening voice that lifts a nation from spiritual sleep?
📣 At Awakening Souls Institute, we challenge every reader:
✅ Question every sermon that tells you to “wait” when the Spirit says “rise.”
✅ Learn the history of religion, don’t just inherit it.
âś… Connect to the Divine Source for yourself.
✅ And most importantly: Don’t let your silence become your sin.
“God is not in the building. God is in the burning bush inside you.”
